How would I make an avatar or signature that shows one image, then changes to another?

as in, an animation?
or do you mean like my avatar, which changes upon refresh?

Yes, animation. I know it has something to do with layers, but it's just so confusing. I'd be using Adobe Photoshop 7 and it comes with ImageReady.

All of the tutorials I have found are either confusing or don't give enough detail or they're terrible.
